Alice Series

Why did you decide to write The Alice Series?

I thought it would be interesting to write about a girl in search of a role model–a girl who has no mother, and is being raised by her patient dad and older brother.  I could think of a lot of funny and serious and poignant experiences she could have, and finally agreed to start a new series as long as she could be slightly older in each book.
