Author Visit
comment:
Do you do author’s visits? I am the school librarian and my 4th graders loved the Shiloh series. We just read Roxie and the Hooligans and will be starting The Boys Start The War next. We are located in southern New Jersey and would love to meet you.
Thank you.
Phyllis replied:
I’m sorry, but I’m deep into the writing of a very long novel, and I need every spare hour I can get. I’m delighted that your class is enjoying my books. A new Roxie book will be out next May.
A hopeful author
Comment:
I’m an aspiring author and wonder if you would read and comment on a few chapters of my manuscript.
Phyllis replied:
I wish I could do it, but I get dozens and dozens of requests for reading other people’s work and writing blurbs for the book jackets, reviewing a book, or reading and commenting on a manuscript. If I did it for one, I should do it for all, and that is simply not possible. But I wish you the best of luck!
Teachers, regarding student letters
Message from Phyllis: I enjoy reading letters from your students, and if they would like to write to me personally, my address is 401 Russell Avenue, Apt. 713, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. If class letters come all in one batch, please give me the name and address of your school so that I can write one letter to be read to the class. If students write to me individually, U.S. mail, I try to answer each one, sometimes with a note, but always with a brochure or photo or whatever they seem to most want. Once in a while I can’t make out the address or the city or even the child’s name, and so someone may be overlooked, but I hope it doesn’t happen often. If you have a personal request, and don’t want your message to appear on these blogs, please email me at phyllis_naylor@comcast.net. In the subject heading, type personal request.
Sad News
This week I received the awful news that Blake Heron, the actor who played the role of Marty Preston in the first SHILOH movie, had died. He was now 35 years old, though I believe he was about 13 or 14 when the movie was produced. He played with such feeling, and truly brought the character to life. The whole cast is heartbroken over the death of this promising actor. Phyllis

Or every time he crosses the yard….or every time he comes down the porch steps…. One friend says he’ll help, but another friend has a problem even more serious…….
