Festival
Hello,
My name is Joe Henthorn. I’m currently the mayor of friendly.
We are starting a festival in friendly and we are calling it Shiloh days honoring you and your books.
Would you be interested in signing a book or two for us to raffle off?
I would be so happy to do that! Are you sending the books? Do you have my address? Your address? Please get back to me at my personal email address: phyllis_naylor@comcast.net
Student Question
When I was reading Shiloh, I loved the book. You gave a lot of details to explain what was happening to hook the reader.I loved your book because I love dogs especially beagles and because I think that you have strong feelings about dogs being abused because Marty wanted to take Shiloh away from Judd that was abusing Shiloh. I give a self reward on this book. You are fur-tactic!
Thank you very much!
Your favorite book?
Thank you very much for writing Shiloh. I know that might sound weird, but my class read the book and I loved it! What is your favorite book you have written?
I have too many favorites. Shiloh was probably my favorite book for readers in elementary grades; the books of the Alice series were my favorites for teen readers, and Unexpected Pleasures was my favorite for adults.
Shiloh
What inspired you to write Shiloh? Is it based on an event that happened in your own life?
Yes. I came across such a dog in Shiloh, West Virginia, and couldn’t get her out of my mind, so I wrote a book about a mistreated dog.
Shiloh questions
Shiloh is such a good buck and I really enjoyed reading it. I have a few questions I would like you to answer.
1. How old was shiloh when you found him?
2. How did shiloh die?
3. When did shiloh start to like you?
Thank you for all your time!
Have a nice day!
The vet thought the dog was about two years old when we found her. She lived with our friends in West Virginia until she was about eleven years old. I’m not sure what she died of… when we first found her, she seemed too frightened to even let me pet her. But once I whistled as she followed us, she bounded up to me as though she’d known me forever…
The dog that inspired the book…
Did you keep the dog you found in West Virginia? The one that inspired the novel?
No. Our friends, whom we were visiting in West Virginia, took her in finally, fed her, cleaned her up and named her Clover.
A Shiloh Christmas
I only recently discovered that there is a 4th book to the Shiloh series after being flooded with memories of nostalgia when I stumbled across my old Shiloh books I read nearly 15 years ago when I was a kid!
I have yet to read it, but I definitely intend to! I’ve seen some previous questions answered regarding a movie for A Shiloh Christmas but it has been a few years since there was an update from what I’ve found online. Do you know if there has been any recent talks or developments about it?
I wish I had an answer for you, but I don’t. I think the producers see it as a good ending for a movie that includes the first three books as well. Or perhaps the final installment of a series. But as far as I know, no decisions have been made as yet.
Shiloh
we read Shiloh in are fourth grade reading group. i have not read it all yet but i loved it so much, i want to get all the book read i just love it so far. From a fourth grade student
I hope you’ll love the ending as much as the beginning.
Shiloh puppies?
We read the book Shiloh in our forth grade book club, and I loved it and i’m going to read the others books but i’m curious what inspired you to right them and was Shiloh ever a father.
The real dog was female. She did not give birth to any puppies.
Shiloh’s age
We read Shiloh in our 4th grade book club. I think Shiloh is the best most heartwarming book ever. Shiloh was such a cute book and my goal is to read the whole series in order, as well as the movies.I would definitely recommend reading the books.I am curious, how old was Shiloh in the first book?
I based Shiloh’s age on the real dog I found in West Virginia. The vet estimated its age to be about two years old.
