why was Judd’s dad mean to him?

Comment:

my class and I just read the book called Shiloh.I loved the book so much.I have two questions, why did Judd Travers dad abuse him when he was a kid?And why is Judd mean to people like his dad was mean to him? My favorite part was at the end of the book Marty got to keep Shiloh. I really love dogs like Marty likes Shiloh.Dogs are so loyal and special.I am from Waynesville Ohio, And I am in fourth grade.

The thing about meanness is that it often goes on and on.  Some parents, who are having a hard time in their lives, take their anger and disappointment out on their family.  And if a child has been bullied and mistreated by a parent, he may grow up with so much anger that he takes it out on another kid, or on his own children later on.  But there are other children who choose a different way–to be the exact opposite of the person who mistreated them.  They make the decision to be kind and understanding. And the world becomes a better place because they made a different choice.
